Biography
Catherine (Cathy) Walker is the Associate Program director for the Chemical Process Systems cluster in CBET/Engineering. She serves four programs in the cluster, Catalysis, Electrochemical Systems, Interfacial Engineering and Process Systems, Reaction Engineering and Molecular Thermodynamics. She also works with other special projects related to these topics Environmental Convergence Opportunities in Chemical, Bioengineering, Environmental, and Transport Systems (ECO-CBET), Major Research Instrumentation, and lead agency agreements with the German Research Foundation (DFG) and United Kingdom Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). Prior to joining NSF, she was a patent examiner with the USPTO, examining patent applications in fiber and textile materials. Her training includes a Ph.D. in Polymer Science and Engineering from UMass Amherst and an NRC post-doctoral fellowship at the Naval Research Lab in polymer physics.
