Program responsibilities

Biography

Randy joined EEC as a permanent program director on the ERC team in 2021.  Before ERC, he served as a program director over the DMR Biomaterials Program, where he collaborated to bring new foci of synthetic biology, plant/fungal biomaterials, and fueled biomaterials to the portfolio.  Beyond biomaterials, Randy’s expertise is in surfaces/interfaces, polymers, liquid crystals, and generally engineering and fundamental research of soft condensed matter systems.  He was an active member of the University of Florida’s ERC in particle science for a number of years earlier in his career.  Randy’s doctoral degree was from the University Louis Pasteur, Strasbourg France, and he has an engineering undergraduate degree from CWRU.  Randy rose to the rank of full professor at the University of Florida and was also a professor at LSU before joining NS
