Shelby Smith

Shelby Smith leads the communications and outreach for the NSF Convergence Accelerator. Before joining the Convergence Accelerator team in July 2020, she worked in communications and marketing consulting at Booz Allen Hamilton. Ms. Smith advised government agencies like the Department of Homeland Security, Science and Technology Directorate (DHS S&T) and the U.S. Air Force in communication strategy, outreach, and development of public-private partnerships. During her time at DHS S&T, she also assisted DHS-funded research toward commercialization through a diverse scope of communications, marketing, and outreach efforts; resulting in numerous commercialized technologies. Prior to Booz Allen, Ms. Smith held a wide range of creative roles in the hospitality industry from event management, operations, communications, and brand management.
