Biography
Dr. Siddiq Qidwai is the Program Director of the Mechanics of Materials and Structures (MOMS) Program and the cross-cutting Foundational Research in Robotics (FRR) Program at the National Science Foundation (NSF). Before joining NSF, he was vigorously toiling for federal funds as Section Head (acting) in the Material Science & Technology division of the US Naval Research Laboratory (NRL). Many years before that, the memory of which fades with this narrator, Dr. Qidwai received his PhD in aerospace engineering from Texas A&M University. Throughout this time, he plied his trade in computational mechanics and materials science with strong focus in constitutive modeling and multiphysics phenomena. Dr. Qidwai is an author or co-author of more than enough publications, a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and US Association for Computational Mechanics (USACM), and NSF allows him to serve on a couple of editorial boards.
