NSF EAR hiring program directors
The U.S. National Science Foundation Division of Earth Sciences (NSF EAR) seeks qualified candidates for two NSF program director positions.
The program directors will support the NSF EAR Chemical Evolution of the Solid Earth and Volcanology (NSF CESEV) and Structure and Physics of the Solid Earth (NSF SPSE) programs.
NSF program directors oversee the merit review process, make proposal recommendations, identify emerging trends and long-range plans for the field, communicate advances in supported research and partner with programs across NSF and other federal agencies and organizations.
The division welcomes applicants with significant, relevant research experience. EAR program directors shape, invigorate and manage portfolios that support basic research and education to better understand Earth's structure, composition and evolution, as well as the life it supports and the processes that govern the formation and behavior of natural materials.
Applications to the NSF CESEV program director vacancy and NSF SPSE program director vacancy are due on Jan. 10, 2025.
Please direct questions about these positions to Dena Smith-Nufio, EAR division director (dmsmith@nsf.gov), or Stephen Mackwell, EAR deputy division director (smackwel@nsf.gov).
